Why modern medicine fails to cure your chronic illness

Presented by Immanence Health

Most Americans are suffering from chronic illnesses
According to the National Health Council (NHC), chronic diseases affect approximately 133 million Americans. This equates to one-third of all Americans currently suffering from
at least one chronic illness. This same agency suggests that nearly 42% of Americans are suffering from multiple multiple conditions. These numbers are projected to increase to a staggering estimated 157 million Americans who have a complex illness and more than half of these suffering from multiple chronic conditions (MCC’s).

Modern medicine is failing

Dr. Schaffner, board-certified Naturopathic Doctor at Immanence  Health, shares that,

“Most of my patients have visited more than two dozen doctors before we meet. They are exhausted. Both their illness and the medical community have worn them down. Modern medicine is falling short because it fails to take the time to truly study and see an individual. Instead, it is focused on efficiency, doing a quick scan for symptoms, and writing prescriptions to silence the symptoms as a reactionary answer.”

 - Dr. Christine Schaffner

Why have patients coming to Dr. Schaffner seen so many doctors without success? Modern medicine is an inflexible template that most practitioners apply to patients, fixating on symptom control and endless prescriptive solutions that leave true health beyond reach.

Healing is a journey

Growing up in a family of healthcare practitioners, Dr. Schaffner Shaffner, was practically born into the world of helping people heal. After graduating from Bastyr  University as a board-certified Naturopathic Doctor (ND), she began to focus on the power of biological medicine. Biological medicine has historically been a sorely underexplored modality that is quickly gaining traction as patients experience modern medicine’s quick-fix prescriptives unable to support the full spectrum of wellness or help them achieve long-term health.

Biological medicine unlocks new pathways to healing

Biological medicine is different from traditional medicine because it starts the search for answers at the cellular level.

“Once we know what we are dealing with, biological medicine allows us to define, refine and support a patient’s innate ability to heal rather than interrupting their physiology with medication and other prescriptive, symptom-based protocols. By utilizing the layered approach each person is fully seen as a unique being. That being said, each person’s healing journey must be as individualized as they and their specific context are.”

Combining protocols accelerates results
Dr. Schaffner began to realize another reason modern medicine is failing: most doctors only prescribe to one system of medicine. By pulling from multiple therapeutic systems—conventional, integrative, functional, naturopathy, homeopathy, Chinese, acupuncture, Ayurveda and biological medicine—patients are able to make great strides in their healing journey. She is passionate about empowering and connecting people to their own unique and innate ability to heal so they can reclaim and experience the full spectrum of health and vitality of life they deserve. The ripple effect of guiding people to the healthiest version of themselves has the ability to change not only that person’s world but also the people--and ultimately the world--around them.Biological medicine is different from traditional medicine because it starts the search for answers at the cellular level.

“Healing is literally what our bodies are designed to do - and our body constantly seeks to detoxify, heal, and rebalance itself.”

- Dr. Christine Schaffner

What your symptoms are specifically telling your body about what it needs

When you are not feeling well or something isn’t “right”, your body sends out a signal. Traditional and modern medicine terms this a “symptom”. It could be a headache, fever, breakouts on your skin, internal pain, a decrease in energy, or a general feeling of malaise.

The difference is in practicing multiple systems of medicine takes these symptoms into account but listens to the body to uncover the root causes. One of the first analyses is to use autonomic response testing (ART) to discover the body’s most immediate needs then create simultaneous and individualistic therapeutic protocols. Then, pulling from all of your symptoms, we are able to create customized health protocols individually engineered for each patient.

Going beyond prescriptives to treat symptoms, we see them as signals and clues that are necessary pieces of the puzzle that--when put together--give the big picture of how to go about healing at every level guiding you on your way back to health and vibrancy.

Your symptoms are your body’s cry for help. Listening to the symptoms helps us know how we can inspire your body to create coherence and health, where countless other modalities often fail by treating or “silencing” the symptom rather than going the extra mile to listen to how we need to help the body heal. The EECO™ System of healing uncovers the root causes of chronic, complex, and mystery illnesses allowing us to guide patients through a healing process custom made for their unique EECO™ System.

The EECO™ System of healing helps you get better faster and reinstate your natural state of health and vitality

Chronic infections and autoimmune disease

Part of having a healthy immune system is having a healthy terrain. Supporting a healthy terrain in our bodies will strengthen the body’s resilience toward pathogens and help prevent chronic infections. Chronic infections contribute to autoimmunity. These toxins, through molecular mimicry, can confuse your immune responses and causes gaps in the protection that your immune system is trying to provide. The attempts of the immune system to clear these infections with toxins at their root can damage tissue. This cycle of infection and an inadequate immune response is a deadly force that is hard to stop once it has begun.
